Preparation Guidelines Before Your CT Scan
1. Plain CT Scans (NCCT)
No fasting is needed for NCCT Head, Spine, or Extremities. Drink plenty of water if taking a KUB scan to ensure good bladder filling.
2. Contrast CT Scans (CECT)
Require 4 hours of fasting. A recent Serum Creatinine report (within last 15 days) is mandatory to assess kidney filtration prior to IV contrast dye administration.
3. Pregnancy Precautions
If you are pregnant or suspect you might be, please inform the staff immediately. CT scans involve ionizing radiation; an ultrasound or MRI may be recommended as an alternative.
